Let's face it, we live in earthquake country and while we haven't had a major one in some time, history says we eventually will. The bolting of a house is when the structure of the home is physically "bolted" to the foundation, something that was not done on houses prior to WWII.
Bolting marries the house to the foundation preventing it from shifting off the foundation during a shaker.
The cost of bolting isn't cheap, but if foundation work is already needed (do your doors not shut properly, can you feel a dip in the floor?
