What's The Future Of The Historic Homes That CalTrans Owns?

Fifty years ago city planners and CalTrans thought of extending the 110 Freeway North to connect to the 210 was a great idea.  Expanding populations and growing traffic concerns was justification enough to buy large swaths of homes that would later become the freeway extension.

This batch of homes is almost entirely historic homes that have been frozen in time.  As the plan for the freeway has now shifted to a tunnel the need for these homes has lessened and sales of these amazing properties is now a reality.

Pasadena Heritage is holding two events on this topic, one is a talk about the program, what is the current status, how will these 400+ homes sell and to who, where will the tunnel be etc.  The date for this talk is Thursday, November 9th. Free for members, $5 for non-members of Pasadena Heritage.  TICKETS HERE

The second event is a walking tour of the neighborhoods in which these coveted properties lay. This walk back in time will cover the area between California Blvd and Columbia Street including some special homes with historic significance (Julia Child's childhood home in particular). Tickets are $15 for members of Pasadena Heritage and $18 for non-members. TICKETS HERE
